WE’RE IN THE FINAL! 🎾🔥
This Sunday, our National 2 team hosted Stade Leuven in the semi-final of the Belgian Championship. It promised to be a particularly competitive encounter, as the two teams had already faced each other last year in a match that ended 5-4.
At 11am, the three doubles matches got underway on our beautiful centre courts, in front of a great crowd who came out to support the team.
Nicolas and Thimothée got the day off to a perfect start with a convincing victory. Stefano and Alexandre unfortunately lost in two sets against a strong pair. In the final doubles match, Arnaud and Dorian fought incredibly hard, but unfortunately lost in the super tie-break.
The doubles:
• Arnaud / Dorian – ❌ 6-7 6-3 9-11
• Nicolas / Thimothée – ✅ 6-3 6-1
• Stefano / Alexandre – ❌ 4-6 2-6
We were therefore 1-2 down after the doubles, leaving very little room for error in the singles. We now needed a big performance to turn the match around.
Dorian, Thimothée and Jules all won their matches in straight sets, before Nicolas secured the decisive point after an incredible three-set battle.
Once the victory was secured, the opponents of John and Maxime decided to retire from their matches.
The singles:

• Jules – ✅ 6-2 6-0
• Thimothée – ✅ 6-1 6-1

Once again, our team showed its incredible strength in singles and, above all, its fantastic ability to turn a match around after being 1-2 down.

Next Sunday, we head to Tessenderlo to fight for the Belgian title.
It’s an away match and the journey isn’t exactly around the corner, but the team hopes to count on as many supporters as possible for this big final! ❤️

A look back at our great victory this Sunday against Eeklo.
First place had already been secured before the match, but the team was determined to maintain its perfect record ahead of the semi-finals.
In scorching heat, the doubles matches started at 11 a.m. The pairs John / Dorian and Timothée / Louis won comfortably. Liam and Jules had to battle a bit harder but managed the key moments perfectly.

- Tim / Louis – ✅ 6-3 6-1
After the doubles, we were leading 3-0.
The singles matches followed immediately in increasingly difficult conditions as the temperature continued to rise. Arnaud faced a very strong opponent and was unable to find a solution. The other players, however, delivered solid performances and secured the remaining victories.

We are now through to the semi-finals with our unbeaten record still intact. On September 6, we will face Stade Leuven, a team we defeated 5-4 last year but that nevertheless prevented us from winning our group. The team will therefore be eager to take revenge and secure a place in the final.

A look back at our great victory this Thursday against Royal Orée Tennis Club. Upon arriving at Orée in the morning, we quickly realized that the match would ultimately not be able to take place outdoors. We then headed to Les Églantiers, where indoor courts had been reserved to host the match.
We therefore played on two courts, and the first doubles matches started quickly. A clear and convincing victory for Tim and Dorian, while Arnaud and Stefano faced a very strong pair of young federation players. The third doubles match then became decisive, and Liam and John eventually won in the super tie-break 10-5 after a very close contest.

- Liam / John – ✅ 3-6 6-4 10-5
We therefore led 2-1 after the doubles, which allowed us to approach the singles matches with a bit more confidence.
In singles, Dorian, Jules, Victor, and Tim all won their matches in straight sets and secured the team’s overall victory. Liam and Alexandre faced strong opponents and unfortunately were unable to bring home a point.

This Sunday, our national team played its opening interclub group-stage match at the Davis Club against Tennis Club Diest. Diest arrived with a younger and less experienced team on paper, but they certainly could not be underestimated.

This year, our team will finally compete in Division 2. It’s a deliberate choice with a clear objective: to compete for the title, just as we did three years ago.
You can find below the full season schedule, with all upcoming matches. We are, of course, counting on your support to come and cheer on the team during these encounters!
Our squad remains strong and motivated, with a group of committed and complementary players:
• Nicolas Ifi – Currently ranked in the ATP Top 1000, Nicolas is our highest-ranked player. This season, he is focusing even more on the professional circuit, which will limit his appearances in interclub matches. His experience at the highest level remains a valuable asset for the team. Belgian ranking: A International, 17th in Belgium.
• Arnaud Destrebecq – Ranked A Nat, 40th in Belgium, Arnaud is a cornerstone of the team thanks to his experience and consistency. He brings essential stability in key matches and will be a central figure this season.
• Liam Holtyzer – Ranked A Nat, 48th in Belgium, Liam is a true product of the club, having been trained here from a young age. His attachment to TC Davis and steady progress make him a key player this season.
• Dorian Verrue – Ranked A Nat, 49th in Belgium, Dorian joined the team two years ago and quickly established himself as a major asset. A serious injury last year prevented him from climbing higher in the rankings after a start at the level of the best Belgian players.
• Jules Melot – Ranked A Nat, 53rd in Belgium, Jules is a solid player who brings consistency and fighting spirit to the team. His commitment and experience will be valuable assets in meeting this season’s challenge.
• Victor Poncelet – Ranked B-15.4, 99th in Belgium, Victor joined last year and has not lost a match under our colors. Formerly ranked 1056 ATP, he brings valuable high-level experience to the team—an important asset for this season.
• Timothée Curnier – Ranked B-15.4, 111th in Belgium, Timothée is our new signing this year. After a strong summer already under the club’s colors, Tim has proven himself as one of our best assets in both singles and doubles during training.
• Stefano Delogu – Ranked B-15.1, 301st in Belgium, Stefano is a solid player who adds depth to the team. His seriousness and fighting spirit make him a valuable asset in decisive matches.
• John Stouffs – Ranked B-15, John is the team captain and also a coach at the club. His leadership and commitment are essential to maintaining team cohesion and motivation throughout the season.
• Quentin Jacob – Team coach, Quentin brings his expertise and experience to guide the players throughout the season. His role is essential in optimizing preparation and team cohesion.
